First drinks: Were chosen from a comprehensive list of local wine and craft beers, including Emerson's, Little Creatures and Tuatara. They also have Macs on tap. We ordered from a friendly but sleep-deprived barkeep, who promptly forgot one of our two drinks.
The vibe: was dead. We were the only people in the establishment, aside from the large-but-silent rugby players being beamed on to the walls around us. Admittedly, Sunday afternoon isn't peak drinking-time in NZ but this was awkward. It's a big space and we didn't come close to filling it.
On the stereo: A mix of easy listening hits that slowly sucks at your will to live.
Room for improvement: We understand the RWC has everyone stretched but if you're so tired you can't keep track of a single drinks order, maybe it's time to rethink the roster or close up for the afternoon.
