Part of a 1728 musical score composed by Johann Sebastian Bach has been found in Japan nearly 80 years after it went missing a scholar said yesterday.
Tadashi Isoyama, a professor at Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, said the Wedding Cantata BWV 216, composed in 1728, was found in the possessions of pianist Chieko Hara, who died in December 2001, aged 87.
The eight-page work contained notes and lyrics written in German, said Isoyama, who determined the authenticity of the Bach piece and whose view is shared by other researchers.
