Auckland band named best brass in the land

Auckland band Dalewool Auckland Brass won the National Championship at the Brass Band contest at the weekend in Rotorua.

Dalewool Auckland Brass claimed the National A Grade Championship Title, winning the Set Test Music and Own Choice Music competitions both with 149 points out of a possible 150 to earn the title Champion Band of New Zealand.

The band also placed third in the Band of the Year entertainment contest which follows the national championship. Woolston Brass from Christchurch won the Band of the Year event.
