A man who predicted he would marry his preschool crush tied the knot with her years later, just like he'd pledged.
Laura Scheel and Matt Grodsky, of Phoenix, Arizona, got married in December. The preschool sweethearts shared their story in a new Instagram post published last week by The WayWe Met, the Daily Mail reports.
"One of my very first memories is of being 3 years old and standing up in front of my preschool class, declaring that I would marry her someday," Matt said of Laura.
"As kids, Laura taught me how to ride the swings, draw rolling hills, and the "right way" to properly eat string cheese."
Matt also recalled how he and Laura would play hide-and-go-seek, run after each other on the playground, and stay up even though it was nap time.
"I remember trying to impress her during a Cinco De Mayo celebration at the preschool where we were trying to break open a pinata. Fortunately, I was the kid who managed to do it and I assume it got her attention."
Yet despite their strong connection at such a young age, the pair lost touch with each other when they ended up attending separate elementary schools.
While their families continued to keep in touch on occasion by sending Christmas cards, Matt and Laura didn't actually see each other in person again until high school - when their connection quickly sparked up again.
At that time, a mutual friend reconnected them 'by happenstance', Matt explained, revealing that this was when their romance well and truly began - although not without some resistance on Laura's part, who admitted to HuffPo that she was 'hesitant' to go out with him at first.
However she eventually relented - and within two weeks, the couple were officially boyfriend and girlfriend, a status they maintained throughout their high school years, into college, and beyond.
"We even stuck together long-distance while attending colleges in different states,' Matt explained.
"We remained a resilient couple until May 23rd, 2015 when I decided to stay true to my preschool pledge and make Laura my wife."
And in a wonderful tribute to the place where they first met, Matt chose to pop the question to his future spouse at their preschool.
The pair ended 2016 as husband and wife, finally turning Matt's prediction into reality.
