Have you ever ordered a meal at a restaurant but found yourself hindered by the fact that you don't know how to properly pronounce the dish you want?
Thankfully a new guide has compiled a list of 20 exotic foods from around the world and exactly how to say them to save your blushes next time you eat out, according to Daily Mail.
And it reveals that even popular foreign foods such as gouda and arancini are not as easy to pronounce correctly as you may think.
One of the most commonly mispronounced foods is prosciutto - the cured ham you find as a pizza topping in most major Italian restaurant chains.
The guide by Sousvide Tools reveals that the 'c' in the word is silent - it's pronounced: pro-shoe-toe.
And if star anise rhymes with "niece" for you, then you've been saying that wrong too as it's actually pronounced: An-Iss.
Other common mispronounciations include gouda (which is said "how-da" like the Dutch) and the Italian risotto balls, arancini, which is pronounced: "a-ruhn-see-ni".
Another surprising word that we're all saying completely wrong is ceviche, the classic raw fish dish.
