Santa Claus's journey to New Zealand from his home in the North Pole can be tracked on Christmas Eve via a free mobile device application.
The app, by WeatherWatch.co.nz, will track Santa's progress from Christmas Eve afternoon until 11pm.
Analyst Philip Duncan said he expected to see Santa show up about 1pm over Alaska.
A Radar Navigation System and the latest satellite maps would be used to track Santa's progress in real time, he said.
However, the technology has to be switched off after 11pm off - "by law we have to do this before Santa arrives over New Zealand air space, which will be sometime just after midnight", Mr Duncan said.
