LOS ANGELES - Walt Disney Studios and America Online are letting fans of "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" get a peek through those famous closet doors in advance of the film's December 9 release.
The two companies announced an exclusive content partnership that went public last Friday when the theatrical trailer received its debut on World of Narnia, a jointly created online destination.
America Online vp AOL programming Erik Flannigan said the deal also provided for other offerings, including photos, artwork, behind-the-scenes video and extended footage from the movie.
In addition, features about the film will be promoted across the AOL network, including the AOL Welcome Screen, AOL.com, AOL Music, AOL Television, AOL CityGuide, its RED for Teens service and elsewhere.
This is the first such initiative since AOL dropped its subscription requirement and became considerably more dependent on advertising revenue.
AOL and Disney often have worked together, however, as they did on the major cross-media campaign supporting "National Treasure."
