For former model and parenting and lifestyle blogger Anna Reeve the ultimate Auckland day trip in a Ford Focus would involve bundling the kids into the car to head out and about for an adventure.
In the fourth of a five-part series, well-known Aucklanders tell us what their ultimate day trip would look like.
Anna Reeve is a Global Alopecia Ambassador, mum to Oscar and Hunter, former model and parenting and lifestyle blogger (annareeve.co.nz).
For Anna, the ultimate day trip in Auckland in a Ford Focus would involve bundling the kids into the car to head out and about for an adventure.
My day trip would begin by heading to Ponsonby Central for breakfast. There's plenty of choice, but our favourite is Bird on a Wire; I was so happy when they started a breakfast menu. Ponsonby Central is great as Oscar and Hunter can run wild there.
2. Strawberry Picking
We would then head out west to go strawberry picking. The boys love strawberries and it's the perfect spot to pick up snacks for the beach.
3. Muriwai Surfing and Gannet Colony
We love Muriwai beach. Jay can surf while I play with the kids or walk up to see the Gannet Colony.
Even in winter it's beautiful to watch the wild waves splash up against the stairs up to the colony.
4. Restaurant at Hallertau Brewery
After the beach we would head to the restaurant at Hallertau Brewery for a late lunch/early dinner.
They reopened not long ago and it's such a great spot for families.
You can get a table which backs right on to the playground and enjoy the sun with a delicious meal, while the kids run amok.
Anika Moa's Songs for Bubbas
We would keep the boys entertained with the SYNC 3 entertainment system in the Focus, starting with Anika Moa's Song For Bubbas 2.
It's such a great kids album, and we always find ourselves singing along too.
The current favourite song for both kids and adults is Chop Chop Hiyaaa. It's definitely much better than all the nauseating kids' albums my parents had to listen to when I was growing up.
