Two new Muir auto freefall drum winches, designed for boats up to 12 metres, are now available in New Zealand.
The stainless winches come complete with auto freefall, power up/power down and manual release freefall. An innovative drum brake also ensures that there is no chance of the rode "over-riding" on to the drum during freefall.
The winches have been designed and manufactured under Muir's worldwide freefall patent.
Grant Matthew, from Muir's New Zealand distributor Lusty and Blundell, says the winches are a mechanical freefall design, meaning they have no electronic components exposed to seawater and therefore subject to corrosion or the risk of failure.
Each of the new Muir DFF08 and DFF10 freefall winches come supplied with circuit breaker, reversing solenoid pack, helm control switch and fascia panels. They also feature an easy 30-second adjustment from auto to manual and power up/power down options. Matthew says they deliver easy, fast and reliable anchoring at the flick of a switch.
