A warming butter-free, sugar-free, gluten-free fruit crumble - lashings of cream and/or custard are highly recommended.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup fresh dates, pitted and chopped
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
1/2 tsp ground cloves
Pinch salt
1 1/2 cups feijoa flesh
2 cups peeled, cored, chopped apple
1/2 cup raisins
Juice of 1 lemon
Combine the top six ingredients by pulsing in a food processor until the mixture is like crumbs and well-combined. Put in a bowl.
In the food processor, puree the apple, raisins and lemon juice. Chop the feijoa into chunks and combine with the apple puree.
Spread the fruit mixture into a shallow ceramic dish. Spread the crumble mixture on top. Bake slowly at 125C for about an hour. Serve warm.
