After the dancing comes the singing

What would you get if you crossed NZ Idol and Dancing with the Stars? Sing Like a Superstar, a new reality show coming to TV3, in which 12 New Zealand celebrities will compete for a record contract.

That's right people, now's your chance to hear actors, sports stars and publicity-seeking politicians doing karaoke for your listening pleasure. The winner will put out a single at the end of the series, with the proceeds - if there are any - going to charity.

The channel is yet to announce the final 12, but we're wondering what they'll do if Nicky Watson ships to Oz?

But they say it will be a family show catering to music tastes "from Eminem to Elvis and from Franz Ferdinand to Frank Sinatra". So Paul Holmes fans may be in luck.

Sing Like A Superstar, hosted by Petra Bagust and Simon Barnett, is expected on air later this year.
