Six years ago Rachelle Starr was flat out carving a career as a property investor in New Zealand.
Then in her 20s, Starr worked for a developer marketing new properties by day and bought and renovated properties in Hamilton and Auckland by night. Headhunted to work in Singapore in 2007, Starr's achievement-driven success story continued.
But in a scenario similar to the book and movie Eat, Pray, Love, Starr, now 31, lacked fulfilment.
"At the time I felt things were great. Looking back I definitely feel I was just working, drinking, party-ing, and making lots of money. I had issues with my health but was so into my work I wasn't following my intuition and my heart.
"I thought about work, I talked about it, and I didn't turn it off."
Starr heard about the Bootcamp 4 Brainz workshops run by American Don Tolman, from a friend who thought they might help Starr achieve some balance.
Starr was so impressed with the workshop she followed Tolman to the United States to do more work with him and ended up marrying his son Tyler.
The pair moved to Bali this year and Starr's lifestyle changed completely.
But it swung too far the other way, with Starr realising she was so focused on pleasure, she was not achieving. The couple now run Consciouslifestyler.com from Bali, a happiness-related business which Starr says has given her that balance. Last month she gave birth to a daughter.
A balancing act
