"The concrete panels are being put up at the same time as the steel framing, a method which is time saving and a cost effective process for the build," Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre committee member Sonja Williams said.
The time frame for the walls being erected is six to eight weeks and the roof which will be completed next is a more complex architectural build, taking a longer time to complete.
"Onlookers will be amazed at how fast the structure will come together."
"It's great to see this finally happening," Kāpiti College principal Tony Kane said.
"It will be fantastic when the community will be able to get on and use the building."
Expected to be open by the end of next year, the centre is the most significant new public building project for Kāpiti in years and will be a welcome addition to Kāpiti's family of venues, he said.
The venue offers two performance theatres seating up to 500 guests, classrooms, rehearsal and dance spaces, and a box office.
State-of-the-art sound, lighting, and eco-friendly design will make the centre the foremost leading-edge performance facility in Kāpiti.
This community venue will be a place to showcase the large variety of performing arts found locally, and from further afield.
As the centre grows it will provide a space for the performing arts community to perform, share knowledge, grow innovative future leaders and continue to strengthen a safe, healthy and thriving community.
"It will take contributions from the whole Kāpiti community to raise this performing arts centre child," said Sonja.
"Fundraising is ongoing to complete the centre with opportunities to contribute as a seat sponsor, as a named sponsor with naming rights for several of the spaces, and for the whole facility itself still available.
