PlaceMakers to move to new Kapiti site

NEW BUILD: An artist's impression of a new PlaceMakers Kapiti store.

PlaceMakers in Paraparaumu will be moving into a brand new building mid next year.

Site work is under way to create a new retail space at Kapiti Landing, on Kapiti Coast Airport land, which will be leased to PlaceMakers for its new Kapiti store, located on Lodestar Place just off Kapiti Rd.

The new store, open in June next year, will have a total building area of 2835sq m plus a 4170sq m timber yard and 80 carparks.

Fletcher distribution property and development director Matthew Grainger said PlaceMakers was going through a major investment programme nationally to upgrade its stores.

The key reasons were to create stores better suited to meeting the needs of its customers, a safer, more efficient way to operate and more environmentally friendly.

"The new Kapiti store will meet all of these objectives.

"It will feature a more efficient layout which will be easier for our customers to shop, a state of the art kitchen, bathroom and heating showroom, modern storage racking, and environmentally friendly design features such as energy efficient lighting."

Mr Grainger said, "Our motivation for moving is to provide a better service offering to our customers.

"We have a great team at PlaceMakers Kapiti, and look forward to bringing them across to the new site."

The current PlaceMakers store, in 158 Kapiti Rd, has been there since 1988; the current building is 3403sq m in area.

Kapiti Coast Airport, owned by Todd Property, has a business development area called Kapiti Landing.

"Kapiti Landing provides the kind of modern fit-for-purpose facilities that leading businesses demand," Todd Property managing director Evan Davies said.

"We recently completed new facilities for Burger Fuel and Liquor King and are pleased to now welcome Placemakers to the development."
