A Paraparaumu Beach woman was the winner of a brand new Mazda3 GSX Hatch Auto this week, taking away the grand prize as part of a nationwide New World Pop for Prizes promotion.
"My daughter and I played Pop for Prizes because it was a bit of fun, never expectingto win anything," said beauty therapist Krystle Humphreys, who accepted the keys from New World Kapiti owners Ali and Clayton Young on Monday morning.
"I heard we'd won while we were in Melbourne and was pretty surprised and excited."
Her daughter Asher Humphreys-Sidaway, 7, also took the morning off from Paraparaumu Beach School to test out the interior of the shiny black model, her mother's choice from three colour options.
The Pop for Prizes promotion saw New World customers throughout the country receive coupons for every $40 spent in store, before inviting them to play a virtual balloon popping game on their phone or computer, using their unique code.
Eighty one customers from around New Zealand won a collection of other prizes as part of the promotion, ranging from an iPad Pro 32GB and iPhone 6S 16GB, to a Breville Nespresso U Coffee Machine and movie gift cards.
In addition, a $500 New World Gift Card was given away every day for 28 days of campaign, with a total of 109 winners.
Mr Young, who purchased New World Kapiti with his wife in 2013, said he was pleased a Kapiti customer won the grand prize.
