"Our Relay was well supported by young people from Paraparaumu College, Kapiti College and Zeal and many of them did more than 200 laps of our 400m track.
"David Thomas who wanted to walk 100 kilometres stopped at 65km."
Ms Brunt said over 100 survivors and carers enjoyed afternoon tea before leading the first lap.
And there was a candlelight ceremony where participants took time to remember those close to them whose lives had been affected by cancer.
"Decorated candle bags were lit and placed around the track to shine throughout the night.
"Those walking through the night could look into a starry moonlit night and enjoy a midnight purple Relay Cake, donated by Kapiti Cakes and Bakery.
She thanked all the volunteers with special mention to Hayley Cooksley, Julie Maltby, Angelina Maltby, Mandy Savage, Sharon Abbott, Maria Durkin, Maria Bater, Maree O'Brien, Lynne Aitkin and Nadine Wehipeihana.
"We also acknowledge the support of our sponsors."
