All candidates for the mayoralty, council and community boards (55 in total) have been nominated and will be out canvassing support in the leadup to local body election day on Saturday, October 8.
Vying for the mayoralty is Angela Buswell, current mayor Ross Church*, Jackie Elliott*, K Gurunathan*, David Scott* and Gavin Welsh*.
Seeking one of five districtwide councillor roles are Richard Austin, Murray Bell*, Emily Boonen, Angela Buswell (also mayoralty), Mike Cardiff*, Jackie Elliott (also mayoralty)*, Peter Ellis, Ann-Maree Ellison, Eric Gregory (also Waikanae Community Board)*, John Howson, K Gurunathan (also mayoralty)*, Christopher Ruthe, David Scott (also mayoralty and Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board)* and Michele Warwick.
The two Paraparaumu ward vacancies will be fought between Mark Benton, Martin Halliday, Bernie Randall (also Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board, Kathy Spiers (also Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board)* and Fiona Vining (also Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board)*.
Battling it out for the single Waikanae ward vacancy is Geoffrey Churchman, Iride McCloy, Tim Parry and Michael Scott*. James Cootes* was the only candidate for the Otaki ward vacancy so has been elected unopposed.
The single Paekakariki-Raumati ward vacancy will be between Guy Burns (also Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board) and Janet Holborow*.
Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board (four vacancies) is between Jonathan Best*, Guy Burns (also Paekakariki-Raumati ward), Bernie Randall (also Paraparaumu ward), David Scott (also mayoralty and districtwide)*, Kathy Spiers (also Paraparaumu ward)*, Fiona Vining (also Paraparaumu ward).
Waikanae Community Board (four vacancies) is between Louise Aitken, Tonchi Begovich, Eric Gregory (also districtwide)*, Jill Lloyd*, Jocelyn Prvanov*, David Roil, Jeremy Seamark, Margaret Stevenson-Wright, James Westbury*.
Otaki Community Board (four vacancies) sees Kerry Bevan, Christine Papps*, Marilyn Stevens and Michele Warwick (also districtwide) elected unopposed. And Paekakariki Community Board (four vacancies) sees Stephen Eckett, Philip Edwards*, Holly Ewens and Paul Hughes elected unopposed too.
