"It's the only production based motorcycle that's got MotoGP technology.
"It's a pretty awesome motorcycle.
"I'm lucky to be sponsored and get to ride such an incredible bike."
Currently he's sitting eighth in the series based on last year's points.
His position is impressive considering he has only been riding superbikes for a few years while others have been racing them for many years.
"I'm up against some fierce competition including people from overseas too."
Racing has seen a number of highs and lows.
Winning six races in a row when he first started out on superbikes was a highlight, as was coming 10th in his first season in nationals where he was named rookie of the year.
Some low points included getting highsided by a laprider causing him to crash and sustain injuries, and later some engine trouble was annoying.
In April, Telford, who has been racing bikes since he was 13, hopes to race in the British superbike championship on a 600cc stock production bike.
"It's one of the cheapest and most recognised classes over there.
"The main thing is just trying to generate the sponsorship to get over there."
Telford, a qualified motorcycle technician, says he loves the whole motorcycle scene especially competition.
