Kapiti artist Theo Arraj has spent the week revamping the back wall of a shop at Coastlands Parade, as part of attempts by Kapiti Coast District Council to draw life to the shopping stretch.
Theo, 26, who is known for his vibrant spray paint murals, was awarded the commission for the project after his concept Metamorphic was selected by council's Public Art Panel.
The concept, chosen from a number of submissions by local and national artists, represents what Theo described as Kapiti's evolution.
"(Metamorphic) represents my 26 years growing up in Kapiti and all the change and growth I've seen in Kapiti," Theo said.
Set for completion over the next couple of days, the eye-catching new face of 5 Coastlands Parade, opposite Kapiti Cakes and Bakery, is a seven day process created entirely using spray paint.
