A decision by Manukau City Council planning commissioners to approve the building of a home on a Clevedon property will be appealed to the Environment Court by a local tribe.
Last month the commissioners approved an application by Dennis and Dawn Wilson to modify land at 209 Broomfields Rd to build a home, tennis court and swimming pool at the site, despite objections from the Ngai Tai Ki Umupuia Te Waka Totara Trust.
The trust claims the site is a significant pa, known as Te Moananui, where ancestors fought and died.
