This month, visitors can experience Northland's magnificent Waipoua kauri forest at night, including a visit to the two largest trees.
The starlight tours coincide with the appearance of the Matariki star cluster. Guides offer a cultural and ecological interpretation of the forest, including Maori legends and songs.
The four-hour guided walk departs each night at 5pm from the Copthorne Hotel in Omapere and returns at 9pm. It costs $55 for adults, half price for children 5-12 years.
