The bankrupt Pipi Foundation is optimistic of its chances of survival.
The Education Ministry pulled funding for the literacy scheme for Maori children when investigations into Donna Awatere Huata's fraudulent behaviour began.
Pipi Foundation chairman Des Ratima says a plan is in place to change the fortunes of the organisation so it can operate once again. He hopes the foundation will be in a position to be renamed, a trust deed put in place and new trustees appointed before Christmas.
He says there are other options but it is unlikely things will get off the ground without Government support.
Former Act MP Awatere Huata is serving two years and nine months for defrauding funds from the trust. Her husband, Wi Huata has received two years, with leave to apply for home detention.
