KEY POINTS:
Most Maori would give Labour their party vote, a Maori Television poll has found. Conducted from September 18 to 28, the poll interviewed 420 Maori voters on both the general and Maori rolls.
Labour received 52 per cent, the Maori Party 20 per cent, National 15 per cent, both NZ First and the Green Party received 5 per cent support, while Act and United Future gathered less than 1 per cent.
Voter support for Labour is reflected in their much stronger preference for Helen Clark for Prime Minister on 38 per cent than National's John Key who had 10 per cent support from voters - the same as NZ First's Winston Peters.
But voters believe Key would choose the Maori Party, 53 per cent, as a coalition partner over Act with 50 per cent support, the Greens 44 per cent and NZ First on 27 per cent.
Margin of error was 4.8 per cent.
