The ceremony for the coronation of the new Maori King is underway in Ngaruawahia.
Tuheitia Paki is being crowned at Turangawaewae Marae.
Hundreds of people have descended on the marae today including Prime Minister Helen Clark and the Tongan King.
They join around 2,000 people who have slept on the marae all week in preparation.
Tuheitia Paki's coronation follows the end of the one-year mourning period for his mother the Maori Queen, Dame Te Atairangikaahu.
