Maori warrior chief Hone Heke has been reburied this morning, in a secret ceremony due to security fears.
Nga Puhi representative David Rankin says there have been concerns activists might disrupt the ceremony, which was planned for the end of the month.
Hone Heke's remains were removed from their original burial place two years ago because of property developments on the site.
Mr Rankin says details of their new location will be closely guarded.
