The Government appears to have decided not to allow Landcorp to sell valuable blocks of land it put on the market this year. The sale of Whenuakite Station on the Coromandel Peninsula and Rangiputa Station in Northland was put on hold in March after pressure from Labour's Maori
MPs and protests from local iwi who said Treaty claims were involved. Prime Minister Helen Clark said yesterday the Government had made decisions about how to treat such sales.
"You can assume we have been very sensitive where there are historical, recreational, conservation or Treaty settlement issues around Landcorp properties."
