Labour incumbent ahead in Maori electorate

Labour incumbent Mahara Okeroa looks set to retain his seat in the Maori electorate of Te Tai Tonga.

Maori Television's latest TNS poll shows Mr Okeroa with 51 per cent support ahead of nearest rival Monte Ohia of the Maori Party on 30 per cent.

The Labour Party is also far ahead in the party vote stakes with 60 per cent, followed by the Maori Party on 14 per cent and National on 9 per cent.
