Maori are meeting in Waitangi to discuss the constitutional framework of the Treaty of Waitangi and how to interpret it.
The hui of more than 200 tribal leaders has been looking at the commercialisation of Maori assets through avenues such as the treaty settlement process and division of fishing assets and what effect this is having on constitutional matters.
The hui, the first in a decade to grapple with such issues, continues today and tomorrow.
