Outspoken National MP Tau Henare is defending his decision to address a Destiny Church conference.
A cross section of Maori politicians also attended the weekend meeting, including Maori Party co-leader Pita Sharples, former MP Hone Harawira and Labour's Shane Jones.
Heading into his party's caucus meeting this morning, Mr Henare didn't want to answer questions about whether he agreed with the Church's controversial stance on issues such as homosexuality.
He says his attendance wasn't about that and says Destiny Church, which is often criticised, does a lot of good work in turning lives around, particularly amongst Maori.
