The Green Party wants the new National-led government to repeal the foreshore and seabed legislation.
The Greens have always opposed it and supported the Maori Party's fight against it when it was passed by Parliament.
As part of National's support agreement with the Maori Party, announced yesterday, the legislation will be reviewed to assess how it is working.
The Greens' Maori issues spokeswoman, Metiria Turei, said today it should be repealed immediately.
"Thousands of us fought against that legislation and the cost to Maori was enormous," she said.
"Tariana Turia even left Labour and formed the Maori Party because of it."
Ms Turei said the Maori Party's member's bill, which has been introduced to Parliament but not yet debated, should be turned into a government bill.
"Now seems an opportune time to ditch this massively under-used and pointless legislation," she said.
"We can undo the gross confiscation of land and abuse of Maori treaty rights."
