A lawyer and experienced TV host has become the first Maori appointed to the Broadcasting Standards Authority.
Te Rau Kupenga was named today as the replacement for Herald columnist Tapu Misa on the Crown entity responsible for ruling on TV broadcasting content.
Mr Kupenga hosts Maori Television show Maorioke and is a regular men's panelist on TV1's Good Morning show.
He is from the East Coast, Ngati Porou, and now lives in Wellington.
