MANUKA HONEY

Used for honey and traditional medicine. There have been complaints it is grown and sold worldwide with no recompense for Maori. The complaints extend to the therapeutic uses.

MARK OF KRI

Sony used Maori imagery in its PlayStation2 Mark of Kri game, describing moko'd hero Rau "running around like a Polynesian Conan". Complaints centred on a lack of consultation and inaccurate presentation.

KUAKA AND KUKUPA

The godwit and wood pigeon are a traditional food source for many iwi. Complaints state that Maori are excluded from control by laws vesting protection with the Department of Conservation.

BIONICLES

Lego introduced a Bionicle toy story line about inhabitants of the island of Mata Nui, called the Tohunga. There were objections to the random jigsaw of Maori imagery. Lego met Maori to agree future consultation.

FLAX WEAVING

The properties of the flax plant are being studied for biological benefit. Complaints state that Maori are being excluded from decisions over access and from potential benefit sharing.
