An innovation competition has been launched with an emphasis on better outcomes for Maori.
The DigMyIdea Maori Innovation Challenge was formulated in consultation with Auckland's economic growth agency Ateed, Poutama Trust, Callaghan Innovation and national Maori broadband working group Nga Pu Waea.
The competition calls for entrants to submit a digital business idea with the potential to go global - anything from an app to a web initiative, or ways to enhance or add digital elements to a more traditional business.
It is open to any New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. Entries will be accepted from teams of up to three people or individuals and will be judged in two categories - 15-18 years, "mauri oho", and 19 years and over, "mauri tu".
The overall winner in each category gets business start-up help in the form of products and services.
