BEST WAY TO HELP
There have been dozens of tsunami relief events, but few are as exceptional as today's Movers and Shakers event. Organised by two schoolgirls who wanted to do something more, the event will feature 12 hours of local music and comedy. The event itself is free, but an auction will run throughout the day to raise money for tsunami victims. It's endorsed by Oxfam, World Vision and the New Zealand Red Cross.
Movers and Shakers Tsunami Relief Event, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, today, noon-midnight, free
BEST OUTDOOR GIGS
Three years on from the inaugural Groove in the Park, the free outdoor concert has become a highlight of the dance party calendar. Featuring the eclectic stylings of Shapeshifter, Nice 'n' Urlich, Manuel Bundy and a kapa haka group, the party never fails to draw crowds of more than 20,000. Set in the pristine grounds of the Auckland Domain, there's no better way to spend your sunny Waitangi Day afternoon.
