Matariki, the Maori New Year, will be celebrated throughout Auckland until the end of next month. The Auckland War Memorial Museum has a music-inspired theme, with activities based around traditional Maori instruments and Matariki including workshops, children's activities, films and lectures. Elsewhere are fashion and photography events, dawn observations of the Matariki star cluster, art exhibitions, music events, a planting day and hangi, a kite day and more. A programme is online.
