Levin Swimming Club held its annual autumn swim meet at the Levin Aquatic Centre last Sunday hosting 95 athletes from clubs from Manawatū, Kāpiti, Wellington and Hutt Valley.
Levin had 30 athletes competing with nine making their debuts and many recording personal best times (PBs). They competed in a total of 116 events, with 45 PBs set.
Some of the more notable performances were Oscar Bland who sliced 19 seconds off his 100 freestyle time, Tuhera Grey with 13 seconds off in the 100 backstroke, Lazarus Tunui with 17 seconds off his 200 medley, and Manaia Davidson with 11 seconds off her 100 backstroke.
The boys under 13 relay team of Keanu Jennings, Lucus Clark, Seth–Cruz Anderson, Lazarus Tunui and Mason Jones won the 5 x 50 metre freestyle relay from the Ice Breakers swim club from Palmerston North by a touch of the hand.
The club entered three girls' teams in the under 13 relay, but no other clubs entered teams in the section so they raced against themselves.
