The Levin RSA Women’s Section has made a $1200 donation to the Levin Volunteer Fire Brigade which will go towards its appeal for a new emergency response vehicle.
The money was raised through a twice-monthly meat raffle at the RSA’s Friday night club night.
While raising the money was straight forward enough, getting it to the brigade itself was a different matter.
A presentation was planned to gift the money to the team, but just before the presentation began, a fire call came in, meaning firefighter Carl Trask had to leave.
Ian Ireland, who is a station officer in the operation support team which will man the vehicle, was able to thank the RSA for the donation before a second alarm call came in, requiring him to also leave the presentation.
