A local Grey Power group is helping Levin locals take a breather when they are out and about by installing more bench seating around town.
However, to make limited funds stretch as far as possible, the group is calling for volunteers to help with the project.
Horowhenua Grey Power Association received a grant for the project of $10,000 per year for the next three years from Horowhenua District Council under its Long Term Plan.
The first bench, which had already been donated by the council's parks and recreation department before new, approved seats were purchased, has been installed at Queen Street East for users of the walkway.
The work was undertaken with the assistance of Levin-Waiopehu Lions Club members and the Community Corrections Department, and timber was supplied by Crighton ITM.
