There was plenty of ink on the cheque presented by Levin Bowling Club to Arohanui Hospice this week after an annual fundraiser.
After months of raffles, auctions and a fundraising tournament, that effort bore fruit when club members presented Arohanui Hospice director Angela Starr with a cheque for $8408.90.
Ms Starr said her organisation was grateful for the pledge and funds raised would go towards the new Horowhenua Centre set up in Levin last year.
The Levin centre was a place where members could spend the day away from home and were encouraged to "create a memory" with arts and crafts, while also allowing loved ones some respite, she said.
Ms Starr said last year the hospice had an operational cost of $2.28 million. That figure was climbing each year, which made the efforts of the Levin Bowling Club members increasingly important to the hospice.
