Just weeks after winning an award recognising the class of his moustache, a Foxton man is shaving it off for a good cause.
Warrick Cocker, whocame second place in the Beard + Styled Moustache category at NZ's Beard & Moustache Competition, is shaving it all off for Camp Quality Wellington Central Districts.
"I've been growing my moustache for the last two and a half years and was just growing out my beard for the last four or five months for the competition."
He chose Monaghans Barbershop to have the honour of shaving off the award-winning slug.
"You get teamed up with a camper and you spend a whole week with them. They have volunteer nurses there that help the kids with medication and everything they need.
"it's set up in a way so just about any kid going through treatment can come to camp for a week to forget about life."
Its been more than six years since Cocker has had a clean-shaven face. Although he had grown quite attached to the combination, shaving it off will have its benefits.
"I look forward to eating a steak and cheese pie without it getting all in my beard. It will be nice over the summer too."
