KEY POINTS:
What are you doing personally to make a difference?
I have a real passion for the outdoors and to relax I spend my spare time making the most of New Zealand's stunning marine environment. Our company is in partnership with the Sir Peter Blake Trust and one of our focuses is to promote leadership in the environmental space. My colleagues and I have developed a policy that allows staff to take two days off a year to get involved in beach cleanups. Plus we offer our customers a cartridge recycling service and a take- back policy whereby we remove and recycle old photocopiers.
What more could you do?
Just acknowledging that there is always more to do is a good start. We have a goal to achieve 0 per cent landfill by 2010. It's something we are all striving for and it reminds us that there is always more you can do.
What is your biggest environmental sin?
Travel. Like a lot of people in my position I regularly fly all over the world as it is important for me to conduct business face-to-face when I can. But where possible I use the phone and email, which allows me to interact with my colleagues who are largely based overseas.
Global Warming - Man or Nature?
Man. There are so many ways in which man can determine the future of the environment. Even small steps can help - recycling, turning off all electronics at night and encouraging environmentally friendly behaviour.
