KEY POINTS:
What are you doing personally to make a difference?
I'm a retailer's/marketer's worst enemy. I had a consumerism bypass at birth. We don't even own a TV. I won't buy products that have multiple layers of wrapping. We compost all our food scraps and recycle whatever we can. I recycle through charity shops, too, both giving and buying, and believe a certain karma is at work here as we always discover bargains after giving something. I walk to work and take a bus to meetings. I open a window at work instead of air conditioning - it's hot but healthy. Staff use glasses instead of plastic throwaway cups. We're conscious about lighting use.
What more could you do?
Less flying for work and more video-conferencing, or perhaps arranging meetings in online virtual world Second Life.
What is your biggest environmental sin?
Flying all over the globe. It's required for work, desired for pleasure. Please, someone, invent a transporter like Star Trek.
Global warming - man or nature?
Mostly man. We damage a lot of things: individuals, cultures, communities and environments. But we're capable of great generosity of spirit as well.
