KEY POINTS:
The Environmental Friendliness Test.
Today, Jason Kerrison from the band Opshop, currently on tour as support band for Brooke Fraser.
What are you doing personally to make a difference?
I use my bike as much as I can. I buy local produce where possible. I recycle plastic bags. You know all the small stuff adds up, hopefully.
I'm also building an ark, fully self-contained and self-sufficient.
Two of everything. Actually a mate of mine and I are collaborating on a photovoltaic pseudo-bike. We're machining some old BMXs and a bit of old aluminium lying around in his yard. It's good fun and it's been a real learning experience.
What more could you do?
I'd like to help expedite the progress towards tackling these issues. I still don't feel we're fully aware of the gravity of the situation. We're basically asleep at the wheel. And New Zealand is in a rare position, in that it is geographically so isolated and free, that we can take bold measures. There's serious potential to lead the world.
What is your biggest environmental sin?
I drive an Audi V6. I'll get it running on water one day though .
Global Warming - True or False?
Three words: "Icebergs in Otago."
