The Ministry for the Environment is calling for entries for the 2008 Green Ribbon Awards.
Nominations for the awards, which aim to highlight the action New Zealanders are taking to protect the environment and become more sustainable, close on April 7.
Nominations are open to all individuals, businesses and community organisations.
New Zealand hosts World Environment Day on June 5. The awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 3, in the Wellington Town Hall, to mark the beginning of the Environment Day celebrations.
The categories are:
* Urban sustainability.
* Sustainable land use.
* Household sustainability.
* Community action for the environment.
* Businesses making a difference.
* Community action for the environment.
* Young people.
* Volunteers and not-for-profit organisations.
* Environment in the spotlight.
* Innovative solutions for the environment.
* Lifetime commitment to the environment.
