ZM's Jase and PJ announce they're leaving New Zealand radio

Jase Hawkins and PJ Harding are leaving New Zealand at the end of the year to pursue a new opportunity overseas.

Popular drive time radio hosts Jase Hawkins and PJ Harding have announced they will be leaving ZM at the end of the year, to pursue a new opportunity overseas.

The pair, who first joined forces on air in 2015, have not said where they are going or whether they will continue as a broadcasting duo.

In a statement, NZME's chief content officer Mike McClung confirmed the news, paying tribute to the popular pair.

"Following the huge success of their drive show on ZM, Jase & PJ will be taking up an opportunity overseas next year. These two hit the ground running; they had their listeners laughing from day one, which has translated into outstanding survey results.

"They let us know some time ago that they were looking to work overseas which has allowed us to plan for their departure and we're excited to be able to announce our new 2018 line-up very shortly.

"Our listeners can continue to enjoy Jase & PJ's show for the remainder of the year and we are currently working with them on plans to keep them involved in the ZM family moving forward."

Jase and PJ recently became the country's most popular drive radio show with Kiwi millenials (18-34), according to the GFK radio survey released earlier this month.

Hawkins moved to New Zealand in 2015 from his native Australia, where he made his name in radio working on the top-rating Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Harding formerly hosted ZM's night show, before taking on drive time with her Aussie co-host.

The pair have made headlines numerous times in the past two years for their often-extreme pranks, including this year's 53-hour on-air marathon.

Last year, they spent 25 hours chained to one another in an awkward hug stunt and Harding recently made headlines after leaving a particularly awkward voicemail for Team New Zealand star Peter Burling.
