British actor Tom Holland is the new Spider-Man. He will put on the Spidey suit in Captain America: Civil War, and again in another new rebooted Spider-Man series.
The announcement follows leaked emails between Marvel and Sony that revealed that Parker must be cast as caucasian and heterosexual.
Sony tested 1500 boys for the role, with Holland shortlisted alongside actors Asa Butterfield, Charlie Rowe, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz and Judah Lewis.
Holland has appeared in Billy Elliot: The Musical and The Impossible, the 2012 film about the Boxing Day Tsunami for which he won the Empire magazine award for Best Newcomers.
