Fans have been teased with a photo from the upcoming Wonder Woman film, featuring a first glimpse at the superhero's lady posse that includes House of Cards star Robin Wright.

The photo released by Entertainment Weekly shows a powerful Diana, a.k.a Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, standing alongside mother Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), and aunts Antiope (Wright) and Menalippe (Lisa Loven Kongsli).

The photo is the first to be released from the heroic film, which follows the transformation of a young Princess Diana into a fierce female warrior.

Director of the highly anticipated film Patty Jenkins, said the trio of immortals have clashing views when it comes to the responsibility of training and raising the young Diana.

Hippolyta longs to shelter and protect her daughter while Antiope is determined to prepare her for the outside world.

"She is the only child they raised together...and their love for her manifests in a different way for each of them," Jenkins told EW.

She added the amazon inspired costumes were styled to differ from the classic male-heroic stereotypes.

"To me, they shouldn't be dressed in armor like men," Jenkins told EW.

"It should be different. It should be authentic and real and appealing to women."

"I, as a woman, want Wonder Woman to be hot as hell, fight badass, and look great at the same time - the same way men want Superman to have huge pecs and an impractically big body."

Almost 75 years in the making, Wonder Woman is slated to hit the big screen in June 2017.
