KEY POINTS:
Here's what we know about celebrity weather girl Toni Marsh.
Contrary to claims in one women's magazine, she's not 40. But she's not 36 either. Marsh, according to her birth certificate, is 38 - and from all accounts a little sensitive about it.
Why? A fortnight ago the New Zealand Woman's Weekly ran a piece about fabulous 40-year-olds and, along with the likes of Nicole Kidman and Ali Mau, included Marsh. Before going to print, the magazine tried to confirm Marsh's age with TV3 but was told the pint-sized weathergirl wanted no part of the story.
Undeterred, Woman's Weekly went ahead, only to get an email from TV3 complaining Marsh wasn't 40 and was upset at any suggestion that she was.
Fair enough, Woman's Weekly thought, offering to put the situation right the next week. So how old was Marsh, it asked? TV3 said Marsh didn't want to say.
The magazine dug its toes in, saying it wasn't prepared to run a correction unless it could state how old Marsh was.
Eventually, TV3 said while Marsh wasn't happy about her age being disclosed, she was 36.
The Herald on Sunday thought that didn't quite add up so obtained a copy of Marsh's birth certificate. Toni Lee Marsh, the daughter of Barry and Barbara Clarice Marsh, was born in Rotorua Public Hospital on November 19, 1968. That makes her almost 39, in fact.
How did TV3 get it wrong? Spokeswoman Jacqui Loates claimed that it was a misunderstanding.
"Toni's age is of no concern... When I spoke to Toni she was very happy about her age being known... This has been nothing more than a simple misunderstanding."
Marsh didn't want to discuss it, saying: "I'm sick of all the talk about my age. I'm just enjoying living in my 30s."
