With Ben Affleck done with rehab, Jennifer Garner pushes to finalise divorce

Ben Affleck has opened up about his struggle with addiction in a heartfelt Instagram post.

The 46-year-old said he had completed a 40-day program at a treatment centre but that his battle would be a "full-time commitment".

"The support I have received from my family, colleagues and fans means more to me than I can say. It's given me the strength and support to speak about my illness with others," he said. "Battling any addiction is a lifelong as difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment."

"I am fighting for myself and my family," he said. "So many people have reached out on social media and spoken about their own journeys with addiction. To those people, I want to say thank you. Your strength is inspiring and is supporting me in ways I didn't think was possible. It helps to know I am not alone. As I have reminded myself, if you have a problem, getting help is a sign of courage, not weakness or failure."

It came as Jennifer Garner indicated that she was ready to be legally divorced from Affleck.

TMZ reported overnight that the Peppermint star has filed documents to expedite the process with the hopes to be a single woman again (officially) by the end of the year.

The Oscar-winning actor requested that the case be handled by a private judge instead of the courts, who will be able to move the process along at a faster rate.

Sources told the site that the main reason Garner hadn't made the request sooner was due to Affleck's drinking habits, and the implications it would have on the custody of their three children, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.

The former Hollywood power couple originally separated in June 2015, and filed for divorce in April 2017.

Since they separated, Affleck has been linked with a number of women; SNL producer Lindsay Shookus and more recently, Playboy model Shauna Sexton.

Despite all the drama, Affleck and Garner appear to be on good terms and are committed parents; being seen on Sunday with their kids at church services in Los Angeles.
