The trailer for a new animated feature just dropped this week, but it definitely isn't the type of film you'd want to take your kids to.
Sausage Party is an R-rated Pixar-styled comedy, from the creators of Super Bad, Pineapple Express, This Is The End and Bad Neighbours. The crude cartoon starring Seth Rogen, who also co-wrote the film, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill and James Franco, sees a supermarket of excited food waiting to be bought. However, when they find out what their fate is, their world unravels.
The film is co-directed by Greg Tiernan, who worked on the Thomas and Friends cartoons about Thomas the Tank Engine, and Conrad Vernon, who is known for his work on the Shrek and Madagascar movies. Sasuage Party will also star the voices of Bill Hader, Michael Cera, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek.
The trailer showcases the movie's CG animation, which is usually tied to kids' movies. But unlike most kids' movies, Sausage Party comes with an adults-only twist, featuring jokes with sexual innuendo and offensive language.
Sausage Party is set for release in the US in August this year. A New Zealand release date has yet to be confirmed.
